Day 1

PARENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

Parent pick-up/drop-off is located at the main entrance of SMS. Parents are to follow the designated lines that form the parent pick-up/drop-off line. Students are required to be in homeroom by 7:45 to be marked present.

After 7:45 students must enter the building through the main entrance and sign in at the main office.

LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY PICK-UPS

  • IMPORTANT: All students must report to the attendance office, next to the main office, to sign in when coming to school late and sign out when being picked up early from school for appointments.
     
  • STUDENTS: Please be aware that you are not allowed in the building prior to 7:30. In the unfortunate case that you must be dropped off earlier than 7:15, you should be dropped off at the main entrance and must wait in the vestibule until the doors open at 7:30 to enter the building.

TRANSPORTATION

LATE ACTIVITY BUS

The Late Activity Bus leaves SMS promptly at 4:20. This shuttle bus takes students to Parkland High School, where the students board the appropriate Late Activity Bus depending on their address. This bus leaves the high school at 4:35 and may have high school students on it as well.

  • If you are going to OMS or PHS it is your responsibility to let your last teacher know that you need to be dismissed at 2:30 so you can catch the 2:38 shuttle bus to OMS/PHS. This is bus #18 and will be located at the Athletic Entrance next to the cafeteria.
     
  • If you are going to PHS and you miss the above bus you may take the second bus which will take you directly to PHS. That will be bus #133. However, this is only to be used if you miss the above bus. Students should not purposely hang around or intentionally be dismissed late to take the second bus.

ATHLETICS

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • If you are interested in competing in the Math 24 Challenge club, sign up in Flex Time manager. Practices will be held through March and April and the school-wide competition will take place in May. See Dr. Kocsis in D231 if you have any questions.
     
  • Our next school dance will be held tonight, Friday, April 10th from 6-8pm. Tickets will be sold all next week at lunch for $5. In addition to music, dancing, snacks, and fun, we will hold a 3v3 basketball tournament. Cost to enter is $10 per person and includes your entrance to the dance. See Mr. Christman in D232 to sign up.
